City of Foley Recreation Department News for
Week of January 5, 2009

Basketball is under way. Basketball schedules will be posted online on
January 6th. Games begin Saturday January 10th. Picture day will
be Monday January 12th at Foley Elementary Gym.

Congratulations to the U-15 Boys Soccer All-Star Team on their championship
at the Baldwin County Cup. The U-12 Boys and the U10 Boys finished as
the runner-up in their respective divisions.

Congratulations to the Elks Lodge (7U), Happy Acres (9U Girls), D&D
Automotive (11U Girls), Vulcan (11U Boys), and Ebert Agency (15U Boys) for
winning the South Baldwin Soccer Regular Season Tournaments.

The City of Foley broke ground for the new youth baseball and softball
5-Plex at the Foley Soccer
Park. Taylor Woerner will be building our

Foley Senior Center is expanding its services. The Center is now
offering classes in Tai Chi, Line Dancing, and Bridge as well as providing
Health Talks. Check out our calendar and Senior Page for more information.
- City of Foley borrows money to
improve parks and expand pedestrian trails.
- PlaySafe, LLC has been
contracted to develop a Master Plan for Parks and Recreation for the City of
Foley. Thanks to our Focus Group participants who helped develop our
plan.
- Congratulations to Foley High School Football Coach Todd Watson for
receiving the "Coach
of the Year" honor from the Mobile Press Register.
